Step into the 5 Magical Kingdoms of Wakunda, Djembabwe, Ubeleland, Jamunda and Pride Rock to  immerse yourself in a variety of African cultural experiences. In these areas you will have the chance to get in touch with your creative side, play, learn and explore! 1. Kora Instrument Workshop: 12:30 – 13:30; 14:45 – 15:45

Learn to play the enchanting melodies and rhythms of the kora, a traditional West African string instrument.

3. Language Workshop: Arabic and Amharic 11.30pm – 1.00pm, Kriol and Swahili 1.30 – 3pm, Somali and Yoruba 4:45 – 6.15pm. Expand your linguistic horizons with our array of language workshops, delving into the rich diversity of African languages. Through these workshops learn to exchange, write and create!

6. Create, Repurpose, re-cycle – Inspired by the Film the Boy Who harnessed the Wind!: 11am – 2pm

Learn how to create wind turbines and other exciting items from used materials, promoting sustainability while adding a touch of flair to your creations. This session is open to all who just want to play, experiment, explore, create, fail, try again and re-create! There is no judgement here. Come and play with available scraps or indeed bring your own scraps. Produce a trial piece or your master piece. Learn about the amazing work of the organisation Moving Windmills, our collaboration with them and the powerful story of William Kamkwamba which featured in the Netflix film, the Boy Who Harnessed the wind. Imagine stepping onto the stage and having the chance to learn popular traditional dances from various African cultures (Kuku Dance (Nigeria), Kwassa Kwassa (Democratic Republic of Congo), Gwara Gwara (South Africa), Azonto (Ghana) Saba (Senegal). There will be stage demos throughout the day but fancy a more intense session to sharpens those moves? Join our experienced instructor Mizz Gold in our not to be missed workshop where tradition steps will meet afrobeats.

13. Climbing

Want to experience something similar to the Dogon people in Mali who dwell in vertical villages? Or perhaps  transform into Maasai warrior and imagine you are scaling an acacia tree. Or maybe you are  Inspired by South Africa’s Sibusiso Vilane and  Algeria’s Nadir Dendoune who climbed mount Everest (the latter with no experience of climbing).
